Lancôme Monsieur Mascara and Juicy Shaker Review

Hey Beauties!

For today’s review I want to focus on these 2 babies I purchased recently. I received a text stating that if I purchase any 2 Lancôme products I would receive 20% off. As I wanted to try the new Monsier Mascara and it was ordered for me I figured getting the Lip oil which I’ve always wanted would be a good deal and getting the discount.

Lancome Monsieur Mascara

As per the website:

What it is:

A BIG volume mascara that delivers instant heart-stopping volume with up to 24 hour wear that lasts all night, and even the morning after, for your biggest, blackest, boldest lashes yet.

What it does:

You’ll know Monsieur Big Mascara is the one at first stroke. The BIG brush and ultra-creamy formula glides like silk onto lashes to deliver up to 12x more volume* with up to 24 hour wear. No touch-ups, flaking and smudging. Perfect for your BIG evening out AND even the morning after.

*than bare lashes alone

What else you need to know:

Monsieur Big’s brush has a unique shape with soft, wavy fibers to deliver the perfect amount of formula with the very first stroke. His ultra-creamy formula has supple waxes and polymers to adhere immediately to lashes for BIG, buildable volume and length. Apply one coat and you will see why Monsieur Big is the one. Keep applying and you’ll forget all the others.

Research results:

95% feel this mascara glides easily on lashes during application

95% find this mascara comfortable to wear all day long

92% find the color of the mascara very dark / intense

91% feel this mascara make their eyes look bigger

90% feel this mascara lengthen their lashes well

My Experience:

The first time I saw this mascara I didn’t know or would think it’s from Lancôme as their normal packaging on their products is silver and this mascara is in black packaging with pink font. It has some weight to it and does feel luxurious.

When I opened the tube the wand is very big (as suggested) and the formula of this is very black. I’m not usually someone that likes huge mascara wands but figured I would give this a try seeing that it’s highly raved about. However the wand is a brush tip wand which I like instead of a plastic wand.

The formula is in between, meaning it’s not too thin or too thick which is great to provide both volume and length to my lashes. I applied 2 and a half coats which is more than sufficient as I noticed it started clumping slightly. I then wore this for the entire day and was impressed that it’s lasted, did not smudge or flake. The intensity of this mascara is very black which is good.

However with all being said, I wasn’t really that impressed with this Mascara. It’s an okay product and I hate sounding negative but for me this worked just as well as my cheaper mascara’s I own. Not really anything special about this or revolutionary in my opinion.

I am going to continue using it cause Lancôme is not that affordable but I don’t think I would run out and repurchase this mascara when I’m finished with it. I do think their Grandiose is better than the Monsieur though.

I purchase my Lancome products at Woolworths. Contains 10 ml/ 0.33 fl.oz. Retails for R350. Made in France

Lancome Juicy Shaker

As per the website:

Shake It, Twist It, Love It! Colors that turn you on!

A seriously addictive lip oil with a pillowy-soft cushion applicator for a delicious shot of color with a hint of shine.

Shake it up with the latest innovation: Juicy Shaker’s bi-phase technology delivers the first pigmented lip oil with 2 distinct phases. The first phase is a transparent oil phase for a comfortable non-sticky shine. The second is the pigment phase for a shot of color. Shake Juicy Shaker like a cocktail shaker to mix the pigments and oil. The cushion applicator enhances application by delivering the perfect ‘shot’ of addictive non-sticky shine and a sheer tint of color to your lips that is simply irresistible.

The cocktail blend of 4 nourishing oils treats your lips like a lip balm. Peach kernel oil; a well-known emollient softens lips while Sweet Almond oil conditions and Cranberry oil provides rich anti-oxidant properties. Muscat Rose oil is rich in essential fatty acids and helps to soothe lips. So addictive, you won’t be able to resist applying it over and over.

Create your signature Parisian Lip Cocktail:

Apply L’Absolu Rouge Definition Matte Lipstick in Le Magenta to build your lip cocktail base. Add a ‘shot’ of flavor and non-sticky shine to your cocktail by tapping on Juicy Shaker in Berry In Love.

My experience:

I purchased this in place of the Clarins Lip Oil as I figured it should be a similar concept.

I love the whole Barman theme of this by shaking the product before using it like a cocktail 🍹 and I do love that there is a blend of 4 nourishing oils to smooth and hydrate the lips. I purchased mine in the shade Freedom Of Peach as I love peach toned lips. Not that there’s much pigmentation, it’s very sheer and a slight wash of color on the lips. The sponge applicator is quiet squishy and soft as it makes application a breeze. It has a slight cocktail scent which also makes it fun to apply.

However I do find that this does not hydrate my lips as much as I hoped it would. I find that I would need to apply this oil constantly before the moisture factor runs dry. I cannot be applying an oil as many times during the day or night as I would need to with this. It’s honestly such a draw back. I wear liquid lipsticks about 80% of the time and having this oil to help hydrate as I hoped isn’t doing anything and my lips are still dry.

But like I’ve mentioned the concept of this is unique, the packaging is great, the scent is divine but the performance of this product is just average in my opinion.

Contains 6.5 ml/ 0.22 fl.oz. Retails for R270. Made in France
