First post of 2018🙃 Hope you all have an amazing year ahead and may all your goals be fulfilled.
Essence Cosmetics was the very first affordable brand I dipped into when I started wearing makeup and to this day I still wear their products. This brand is so affordable for the quality. I’ll be focusing on the hits today and my main suggestions I would recommend to you. But first here is their philosophy as per their website:
‘essence cosmetics gives you easy access to great products that inspire you to express who you are with style, confidence and fun.
we say NO to animal testing and YES to quality with prices affordable enough to try a fabulous new look whenever you want.
with a full range of breakthrough beauty products and the season’s hottest colors and formulas, you’ll look great and your skin will feel great too!
express yourself with essence – europe’s no. 1 cosmetic brand!*’
They often have different collections depending on the season or time of year. Some are limited edition and some are permanent but here are a few of my favorites from this brand:
I did a full blog post on this mascara comparing it to another affordable mascara and this came out tops. Click here to view full post. This mascara is very black, does not flake or smudge, voluminous and can be used for upper and lower lashes. I don’t have a hard time removing this as it does not claim to be waterproof.
Retails for R69,95. Brush wand.
This has a fine brush tip which makes it easy for application. I used this for the first time for my New Year’s Eve Makeup inspiration post. Click here to view. This was part of a collection but it’s still available in store. It has this beautiful rose gold (more gold) sheen and makes the eyes pop. I didn’t use it as liner yet but it can be used all over the eye lids, as an eyeliner, on the lower lash line, or art.
Retails for R64,95. Contains 0.15 Fl.Oz/ 4.5ml Of product.
I wore this on Christmas Day and it lasted all day. I expected the glitter particles to fall over my face at the end of the day but surprisingly it did not. It stayed in place, did not crease or crumble, also the staying power and pigmentation is on point.
Retails for R79,95. Contains 0.11 fl.oz/ 3.5ml Of product.
I love these pigments so much! Unfortunately it’s only available in store and I got mine on sale. These pigments are in and out of stock all year round so I kept my eye open for it. I should have bought all the shades when I saw them but only opted for 2. I used the gold as a face highlighter and eyeshadow and it looked stunning and so glowing and dewy. The other olive shade I’m obsessed with too.
Retails for R15 each (on sale). Contains 0.08 Oz/ 2.5g of product.
This is a dupe for the Benefit Gimme Brow. I probably won’t purchase the Gimme brow gel again as this is a fraction of the price and does the exact same thing. I wear this on it’s own when I’m hardly wearing makeup but want my brows to be filled in slightly, I wear this when I’m doing a defined, full brow. The formula is perfection and keeps my brows in place the entire day. The shade is also just right for my brow hairs.
Retails for R54.95. Contains 0.12 fl.oz/ 3.8ml Of product.
Matt Touch Blush – Berry Me Up! and Wake up blush Hello Sunshine
One of the softest yet just enough pigment Blush I’ve ever used. I can’t believe how affordable this Blush is for the quality. It has barely any powder kick up and although it’s matte, it does not make the cheeks look dry or dull.
Retails for R54,95. Contains 0.17 Oz/ 5g product.
The Wake up Spring! Collection was part of their spring collection and cannot find this online anymore, in store there may be some left. This gives the cheeks a beautiful natural sheen and pairs so well with just about any makeup look if you looking to keep it low key or radiant.
Retails for 59.95. Contains 0.21 Oz/ 6g Of product.
I must admit this sounded strange when I saw this. A luminous matte powder? But that’s what intrigued me and made me purchase it. It’s not a must have product but it provides a healthy, sun kissed sheen on the face and definitely used for bronzing the skin, not for contouring. I’ve used this as an eye shadow too and works great.
Retails for R64.95. Contains 0.31 Oz/ 9g.
Face Luminizer Palette
I think this was limited edition as I don’t see it online or in stores anymore. The 2 shades on the left and right provide a very subtle, lite from within glow while the middle shade can be built up for a bit of a more intense glow. These work great as eye shadows too or can be used in conjunction with other highlighters. The formula isn’t dry or too powdery.
Retails for R79,95. Contains 0.49 Oz/ 14g of product.
I use this during the day to blot any excess oils and keep my T-zone matte. Not much to say except that it works really well and will continue to use this and repurchase it.
Retails for R45.95. Contains 50 sheets.
One of the most comfortable Matt lipsticks I’ve tried. Again, it’s non drying, very comfortable on the lips with smooth application. The color pay off is decent as well, just wish there were a ton of more shades to select from.
Retails for R49.95. Contains 0.13 Oz/ 3.8g Of product.
Essence has the best lip liners, hands down. Every time I get the chance, I purchase more and more of these especially their long lasting lip liners as the formula beats some high end lip liners. It’s smooth, long lasting and the color pay off is super intense with just one stroke.
Retails from R19.95 to R29.95.
My favorite is the eye blending brushes. But all their brushes are so soft, blends out products very well and so damn cheap. The packaging is also so fun and pretty.
One of their best sellers and the formula is pretty decent too. Lasts for a couple of days and their top coat is one the best top coats I’ve tried to date. It dries super fast and enhances the longevity of the nail polish.
Retails for R29.95.
These are the products I have in my collection but previous products I’ve tried from this brand I can also recommend is any of their Makeup Setting Sprays. If you into brow powders, their Eyebrow Stylist Set is also good. The Liquid Ink Eyeliner. I love extreme crazy volume mascara. Individual eye shadows or palettes. And any of their lip products.
What are some of your favorite Essence products?
