My Makeup Color Series: Neutral Cool Tones + Catrice First Impressions Palette

Hey Beauties!

I decided to kill two birds with one stone. One being continuing my Makeup Color Series and the other a review on this Catrice eye shadow palette.

This is a limited edition collection called The Travelight Story. Other products including the Primer stick, Radiant Glow Mist, Bronze and Blush, Nail Lacquer, Liquid Liner, Cool and Matt Primer Stick, Cool and Matt Lip Color. Only the eye shadow palette intrigued me, or what I wanted to add to my makeup collection rather.

Catrice Travelight Eye shadow Palette

Twelve powder Eye Shadows with various effects and a mirror as well as an applicator are part of this must-have palette. The harmonious combination of colours ensures perfect 50’s eye make-up styles.

Beauty Tip:

The “Cut Crease” technique of defining the eye crease with a contrasting eye shadow color is absolutely essential for an ultimate Fifties Make-up Look. A dark eye shadow in the crease of the lid creates more depth, while lighter nuances in the inner corners of the eye and underneath the brow visibly open up the eyes. Another key element of the 50s Look is an intensive brow with a high, clearly defined arch. This effect can be achieved with an eyebrow pencil or powder.

The swatches seem non vibrant. I was interested in the color scheme as it seemed cool toned for an every day quick makeup look. I wasn’t looking for a palette where I should think about what look to create or to be bold and dramatic with. This is an easy going, beginner friendly and low key kind of palette. For the price I also didn’t expect too much although the pigmentation was slightly disappointing. The shimmer shades were glittery and a little bit chunky. I did end up wetting my brush with setting spray to enhance the shimmer shades. It contains a decent size mirror that can be used for the entire face and eye makeup. The only thing I do not like is the scent of these eye shadows, it smells like play dough.

Overall this palette is great for everyday, where simple, easy and effortless makeup looks can be performed in under 5 minutes.

The look I created with this palette:

I purchased mine at Dischem Pharmacy for R144.  Contains 12 shades, 4 matte and 8 shimmer shades. Made in PRC (China).

Thanks for stopping by:)

  1. I had no idea Catrice makes such large palettes! It’s a pity the shades weren’t all that pigmented. The look you created with the palette is stunning though! You definitely made them work. 🙂 x

    1. Catrice is trying to step up for sure. They have a face palette which I’ve been contemplating purchasing. Yes it’s a pity about the lack of pigment as I dug my brush in there quiet a few times for it to show. Thank you Nadine! Xx

  2. I swatched this in store and also didn’t like it. Their other shadows are way better than these. The shimmers were just specks of glitter. I really like the minimal packaging though.
