As you aware I am a huge fan of the Bobbi Brown brushes (click HERE to view my review) and testing this foundation along with the foundation brush made sense. Personally I don’t really try out too many Bobbi Brown products which I should as some of their products are outstanding.
As per the website:
Finally—a natural-looking and long-wearing foundation with SPF. Comfortable and hydrating, this medium to full coverage oil-free formula never looks cakey or masky.
Glycerin and shea butter keep skin feeling moisturised while a gel base creates a lightweight finish that stays colour-true. Lasts for up to 12 hours even in the most humid conditions. Protects skin from future damage thanks to broad spectrum SPF 15 with antioxidant vitamins C and E.
Normal to oily skin types. Apply to clean, moisturized skin with fingers, sponge or the Foundation Brush (sold separately).
Available in 15 shades. Contains 30ml of product. Retails for R635.
The packaging is standard, a glass frosted bottle with a pump which I have no problem with. I have mine in the shade Warm Honey which is a perfect match.
I applied one pump on one half of my face and one more pump on the other half. Lately I’ve been applying all my foundations with this Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush which buffs out my foundation seamlessly and effortlessly. The texture felt very moisturizing and thick, like the gel based formula it claims to be but it took no time blending this out into my skin evenly. This is aimed towards normal to oily skin but I think this can be used on dry skin too (which is what I have). The texture felt like a tinted moisturizer and appeared slightly dewy and natural before I set the foundation.
This didn’t appear medium to full coverage as it claims, it appeared light to medium coverage but my skin looked completely natural and airbrushed. I added another pump to build up the coverage to medium. I then set my skin with loose powder and didn’t touch up at all to see how long it would last.
I wore this all day at work for 11 hours. I honestly didn’t think this would last as long as it did on my skin. Reason being, it appeared dewy with a thick, moisturising texture as well as light to medium coverage. Surprisingly this lasted the entire day without any touch ups. However, it did settle into my smile lines which happens with most foundations. Other than that this lasted the entire day. My skin appeared natural, lightweight and remained in place throughout the day.
Removing my makeup after wearing this wasn’t too bad as well. Usually I double cleanse no matter how little or how much makeup I wear. After the second cleanse and toning the cotton pad appeared clear. Usually a tiny bit of makeup residue is wiped off when I tone, but there was nothing on the cotton pad.
There are some skincare benefits in this which I am pleased about like the shea butter to keep the skin moisturised and Vitamin C and E.
I would definitely recommend this foundation to every skin type not just normal to oily. I would suggest if you have very oily skin to use a matte primer or matte setting spray and setting the foundation with a powder. I would imagine it could possibly separate or your oils will start to peek through halfway throughout the day. This is a beautiful foundation though and is great for everyday wear and the claim of 12 hour wear time is true.
