The Ordinary High-Spreadability Primer Review

Hey Beauties!

I finally get to try at least one product by the infamous brand called The Ordinary Skincare. I don’t usually jump on the bandwagon when it comes to popular skincare brands/ products as I do with makeup because the skincare world is very different to the makeup world. With regards to skincare I’m selective of what I’m applying on my skin. My skin thankfully doesn’t need acids (what they known for) in order for it to be in a better condition or perform at its best, oils are more suited for me, therefore that was also the reason why I took my time trying their products.

Seeing that this a makeup primer I’m getting the best of both worlds to test out this brand’s products.

The Odinary High-Spreadability Primer

As per the website:

This new generation of primer is a lightweight serum-like formula that increases the spreadability of subsequent complexion makeup to help avoid the unnatural and uneven accumulation of pigments especially around the eyes and on dry skin. The formula also acts as a light, non-oily surface hydrator for a natural dewy look.

alcohol-free, oil-free, nut-free, vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free.

My Experience:

This contains glass packaging with a dropper which I don’t mind. I read a few reviews saying people didn’t like the packaging and dropper. I like it though. Contains 30ml/ 1 fl.oz of product which is standard/ suffice. I don’t use tons of product including primer when I apply it to my face therefore this should last me a while. It is transparent with no scent or at least I don’t smell anything.

The texture reminds me of a serum and it also feels as if I’m applying a serum onto my skin. It’s runny and a little bit spreads a long way as the name suggests. The consistency is thinner than a lot of silicone primers and I like that it’s lightweight and takes no time at all to blend and sink into the skin. I don’t have to take my time to work and pat this into my skin, I literally massage this in for a couple of seconds and move on.

As I’ve mentioned this feels very lightweight on the skin much like a serum does it blurs my pores and fine lines making my skin appear flawless. Not only is it beneficial for pre makeup application but for days that I don’t wear makeup as well.

I tested this with foundations I love as well as foundations that are average with different finishes and claims. This primer managed to sustain and keep my makeup in place all day long. I was actually quite surprised at the longevity and that it actually worked. Usually primers are not something I believe in to be honest, it’s not a ‘necessity’ in my makeup routine because if my skin is prepped well by cleansing, applying my usual serums and moisturizer my makeup tends to last just as well without a primer. This however did last throughout the day and kept my skin hydrated too. It worked for my dewy finish foundations, matte finish, sheer coverage and full coverage foundations. My skin still appeared smooth and looked the same at the end of the day as it did in the morning.

Overall this has been a success and I enjoy using this primer. I would definitely recommend this especially if you don’t want to spend a huge amount of money on a primer or don’t really believe in primers like me.

Have you tried this or any other primer and skincare from this brand? What are your thoughts?

Thanks for stopping by 😊
